Open call · Municipal: Saturday, October 17th · Provincial: Saturday, October 24th
South Asians in Canada fought forty years for the right to vote. On Saturday, October 17th (municipal) or Saturday, October 24th (provincial), film ten seconds on your way to the polls. Your clip could close the film.
In 1907, British Columbia stripped South Asians of the right to vote.
Our grandparents’ generation organized, petitioned and pushed for forty years to win it back. Zindabad tells that untold story. Its last scene belongs to the people who carry it forward: us, at the ballot box, today.
It takes less time than finding parking at the polling station. Bring whoever you like: friends, kids, dada-dadi, nana-nani, the uncle who always has an opinion.
Film a selfie video on the way to vote, or right outside the voting place. Cameras aren’t allowed inside, so keep it outdoors.
Hi, I’m [your name] from [your city], and I’m proud to vote because my voice matters. My Voice Zindabad! My Vote Zindabad!
Tap the plus, choose the clip from your camera roll, add your name and city, and post. Your clip could make the closing montage.
Preview mode: this page isn’t connected to the team’s Google Drive yet, so uploads are simulated.
We’ll watch every clip. The closing montage is edited from the submissions, so we can’t promise every one makes the cut, but every voice shapes the scene.
No. You can film on either voting day: the municipal election on Saturday, October 17th or the provincial election on Saturday, October 24th.
No. Recording isn’t allowed inside voting places. Film on the way there or right outside.
Some iPhone formats (HEVC/MOV) don’t preview in every browser. They still upload fine, and we’ll convert them on our end.
Yes. DM it to us on Instagram at @zindabad.thefilm.
Please! Squeeze everyone in. Just make sure each adult is happy to appear, and a parent approves for any kids.
